Understand the mathematics of compounding interest and reducing balances.
SaralBill EMI Calculator uses the **Reducing Balance Method** which is standard for commercial and retail banks. Interest is calculated on the outstanding loan principal at the end of each billing cycle.
During the initial periods of a business loan, a larger share of your monthly EMI is consumed by the **Interest component**. As you make ongoing payments and the principal balance reduces, the interest component decreases, and the **Principal Repayment component** increases. Review the month-wise amortization schedule table above to see this dynamic in action.
In the reducing balance method, interest is charged only on the unpaid principal amount. As you pay off your loan monthly, your principal amount reduces, thereby reducing the interest component of future EMI installments. This is much cheaper than flat interest rate methods.
Most banks and NBFCs require:
• Business registration proof (GST certificate, Udyam MSME, Partnership deed).
• Last 12 months business bank account statements.
• ITR records & audited balance sheets for the last 2 financial years.
• KYCs of promoters/directors.
Pre-closing a high-interest business loan stops the accumulation of future interest costs, directly expanding your monthly business profit margins. However, check with your bank for pre-closure penalty fees (ranging from 2% to 5% of the outstanding principal balance).
